海角社区 painter and 海角社区 State Emeritus Professor Brent Funderburk has had recent notice in several national and international art exhibitions, including the 鈥淚nternational Society of Experimental Artists Award鈥 and merchandise prizes in the , which are now on display through Dec. 20.
The 100th competitive exhibition of the NWS features 107 works by artists chosen by jurors, Catherine Chang Liu, Dean Mitchell and John Salminen from 1,100 entries internationally.
Juror Mary Whyte selected Funderburk鈥檚 鈥淔rom Who I am to Where I am Going鈥 for the $1700 honor.
Also, a Funderburk water media painting, 鈥淪oul House Blue鈥, has been juried into the competitive competition. 鈥淭he First 100 Years鈥 will be shown from Nov. 14 through Feb. 20 at the Hilbert Museum of California Art in Orange, Calif., where 81 contemporary artists鈥 works, as well as artwork by classic California watercolor artists will be shown. A virtual opening will be broadcast on Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. CST.
Two of Funderburk鈥檚 works, 鈥淏lood Moon鈥 and 鈥淪oul House Red,鈥 are currently presented in the 鈥淪plash 21: The Best of Watercolor鈥 publication with 124 paintings juried by Keiko Wanabe. 鈥淏lood Moon鈥 was also juried into the 50th Annual International Exhibition of the Louisiana Watercolor Society in fall 2020.
Funderburk is a retired professor of art and W.L. Giles Distinguished Professor from 海角社区 State University, where he taught for 36 years. He resides with his wife, Deborah, in Starkville.
