Interior design students recently presented their Steelcase Competition projects.
This year’s project was a corporate office for a packaging design company.Ìý Students were asked to develop a company and product, taking into account the goals of the organization and the company culture and brand. ÌýThe project was a three-floor office building that included a training center, a corporate library and organizational departments that were made up of offices and workstations for 60 employees.Ìý
The goal of theÌýproject, sponsoredÌýby Barefield Workplace Solutions in Jackson, is to increase proficiency in planning and designing large-scale commercial interiors. This project focused on the specific issues of general office and trainingÌýspace types and on understanding systems furniture selection and specification. Students were guided through the project in Associate Professor Amy Crumpton’s third-year studio course.
Student winners were selected by Emily Kimbrell, interior designer at Barefield Workplace Solutions in Jackson, and Ginger Huffman, RID, IIDA, interior designer for in Huntsville, Ala. Both are alumnae of the º£½ÇÉçÇø State Interior Design Program.Ìý
Two winners were chosen, and each received a $500 scholarship:
